• Vote for Blum!!!

Oregon Bride Magazine is currently holding the first round voting portion for their annual Best of Bride contest!   The first round is open to the public and will continue until February 13th.  After that they will announce a top 3 finalists who will be voted on by the Oregon Wedding Community to select the winners.  We’ve been so fortunate to be a finalist the last 6 years in a row and have won the grand price 4 times in 2009, 2010, 2013, and 2014.  If you have a minute we would so appreciate your support by voting for Blum in both the Best Overall and Best Florist (both for Portland) categories!  Please remember that you need to vote in at least 6 categories so be sure and support your other favorite local vendors as well!  You can vote once per email address.

    Thank you!!!

  • Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe holiday season!  In addition to the holidays and the New Year as of December 20th Blum turned 9!  It’s hard to believe that as we embark on a new year that also means that I’m approaching a decade in business.  Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me, and Blum, through the years.  I applied for my first job in a flower shop because I thought it would be fun to play with flowers but I decided to make floristry my career because of the people I meet and the stories that are now a part of my life thanks to this job.

  • Zenith Vineyard Wedding with Powers Photography!

Kim and Demetri were married in July at Zenith Vineyard in Salem, Oregon.  It was a breathtakingly beautiful summer day full of kind, happy people.  The flowers were kept very classic and feminine and featured roses, hydrangea, tulips, dahlias, and ranunculus in shades of soft pink, blush and cream.  Congratulations Kim and Demetri!  Thank you for letting us take part in your gorgeous day!

  • Blum Winter Sock Drive!

We’re holding a sock drive now through the end of the year!  The goal is to collect 500 pairs of socks by New Years.  Socks will be donated to the Portland Rescue Mission located in Old Town.  I chose the Portland Rescue Mission because it’s in the neighborhood and provides services to men, women and kids of all ages which means you can donate any kind of socks you want!  The one condition I ask is that they be NEW.

There are two ways to donate…

    1. You can drop off the new socks at Blum!  A basket will be placed in the lobby by my back door for those times when we are out of the studio. The Blum address is 600 NW Naito Parkway Suite B, Portland, OR 97209.

    2. You can donate money via our Fundrazr page.  All of the money raised here will go directly to socks.  A six pack of men’s athletic socks costs around $10.

If you can spread the news I would greatly appreciate it.  Hopefully we can grant some warm, clean, much needed comfort to our neighbors this winter!

If you have any questions please feel free to visit our Fundrazr page, email us at or call at 503.851.1672!

  • Sneak Peek- Christina and Cameron’s Wedding!

I love this detail photo by Powers Photography Studio from Christina and Cameron’s wedding at the Ecotrust Building… the flowers, the rings, that DRESS!

  • YU Contemporary Wedding with Stephanie Kaloi Photography!

I can hardly believe it’s already November!   One of my favorite things to do when wedding season begins to slow down  is finally have a chance to reach out to photographers and relive some of my favorite moments of the year.

Jason and Jason’s wedding (aka Jason *squared*) was one of my favorite of the year.  They chose the Yale Union Contemporary building for their event and with the help of Luxe Event Productions turned the very raw space into the setting for an incredibly chic and masculine wedding.  Low, clean arrangements of white phaleanopsis orchids were featured as dinner table centerpieces and clear glass orbs filled with white hydrangea and swirled grasses added a very simple, stylish accent to cocktail tables.  My favorite floral element was the tall bare root orchid “tree” we created in their lounge.   I thought it added the height and drama the space needed while staying within the clean, modern look the guys were going for.

  • Oregon Golf Club Wedding from Ben Pigao!

Ally and John’s wedding is one of my favorites from the 2014 wedding season.  Not only did we share the same ideas stylistically as well as an appreciation of (or in my case, obsession with) details but they are two of the most gracious, kind people that you will ever meet.

  • Elysian Wedding with Tara Francis Photography

Sarah and Spenser were married at the Elysian Ballroom in downtown Portland this past January.  Gold, blush and cream were the colors of the day with loads of crystals and candles to provide sparkle and light!

  • Best Florist in Portland!

    OBRBOB Logo_14black

I am so honored and excited to announce that our little company, Blum Design in Flowers was named Best Florist in Portland by Oregon Bride Magazine!  Voting took place in two rounds with the first round open to the general public and then the second round by wedding vendors only.  This is the fourth time we’ve been awarded Best Florist which I think made it feel even more shocking when our name was announced!

Thank you not only to those who voted for us but to all of our clients, peers, friends and family members who have supported Blum over the last 9 years.  The wedding and floral industries can both by highly competitive and so I feel extra lucky to be able to do a job that I love in a city so full of kind, talented, supportive people.  THANK YOU!

Congratulations to the other nominees and winners as well!  It takes a village to put together a truly beautiful event and it was fun to see so many friends be recognized as well.  The winners will be featured in the Autumn/Winter issue of Oregon Bride Magazine.  Be sure to pick up a copy!
